Biodiversity at Work: Build a Living Ecosystem Together

This team building activity brings nature, creativity and digital technology together in a unique experience that fosters sustainability and team connection.

Not your typical workshop, but a powerful invitation to make a lasting difference as an organisation — in an accessible, interactive way.

**Why focus on biodiversity?**

Nearly 70% of global biodiversity has been lost in the past 50 years. At the same time, 3 out of 4 food crops depend on pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Nature needs our attention — and businesses can play a crucial role.

Yet organisational involvement often remains abstract or invisible. This team building activity makes biodiversity tangible, measurable, and most importantly: a shared experience.

**What will you do?**

During this hands-on session, each participant works with a biodiversity kit to build their own micro-ecosystem.

**Expect a creative combination of:**

- a small insect hotel
- a bird nesting box
- seeds for pollinator-friendly plants
- paint, brushes and materials to personalise your creation
- a biodiversity guide

With these materials, you’ll create an ecological ‘bubble’ together — a space that attracts birds, insects and plants, whether at the office, on a balcony or in your own garden.

**The digital layer: measure your impact**

Through an intuitive app, each biodiversity bubble is linked to an interactive map.

By scanning a QR code, you can:

- identify flora and fauna (AI-assisted)
- share observations and track your impact
- connect locations and teams into one shared ecosystem
- join challenges or set up a friendly competition
- share data with researchers or local partners

The app helps you monitor and share your sustainable actions — perfect for organisations committed to their **ESG goals or CSRD reporting.**

**The programme**

**1) Kick-off and team formation** (10 min)  
A short introduction to spark enthusiasm and set the tone.

**2) Interactive biodiversity quiz**(40–60 min)  
Learn about ecosystems, endangered species and how businesses can create positive change — all in a fun, engaging format.

**3) Creative biodiversity building** (30–45 min)  
Each team member personalises their own biodiversity bubble. Together, you build something lasting — a small ecosystem that continues to grow at work or at home.

**4) App activation & geolocation**  
Connect your creation to the app and watch how your bubble evolves over time.

**From team impact to social impact**

The power of this activity goes beyond the session itself. You can also choose to donate a biodiversity bubble to a school, municipality or care facility — making your commitment not only ecological, but also socially visible.
