Kubb originated in Sweden. It’s said by romanticists that this is an ancient game, often played by the old Vikings. Others say that this game was invented when collecting wood. The Swedes thought they could play with the branches they collected. That's how the 'throwing wooden blocks' began. Like pétanque you should throw and hit your target, with a block instead of with a ball. A team of 2 to 6 people try to hit as many blocks as possible. Kubbs is played outdoors on a flat surface on a field of five to eight metres. You can play on grass, sand, gravel, concrete, or snow.
