SolarBuddy

Ecco La Luna launches Solarbuddy, a team-building initiative with social impact! One of the biggest challenges in developing countries is extreme energy poverty. 'SolarBuddy' is an organization dedicated to bringing light to children in difficult home situations. They have chosen Ecco La Luna as their Belgian partner to raise awareness among companies about this issue through a special CSR-oriented team-building program.

Energy poverty is a problem that impacts health and well-being, educational outcomes, and economic stability.

"In many countries, people lack electricity or light, or they generate it using unhealthy products like toxic gasoline," says Geert Debusschere of Ecco La Luna. "SolarBuddy is an organization that aims to address this issue. Through a CSR philosophy, they want to give companies the opportunity to invest in combating 'energy poverty.'"

Since its establishment in 2016, SolarBuddy has donated hundreds of thousands of solar-powered lamps, literally brightening the lives of nearly 1 million people in 19 different countries. These lamps, which harness sunlight during the day, help children read and study longer in the evenings.

SolarBuddy has a representative in each country, and in our country, the choice fell on Ecco La Luna. "We offer companies a team-building/energizer activity consisting of three parts. In the first part, 'Learn,' we inform participants about what 'energy poverty' is and why we want to help combat it. Then, in the second part, 'Make,' they can assemble (or assemble) a Solar Buddy lamp that operates on solar energy. They can also write a personal message for the recipient. Finally, there is the third part, 'Illuminate,' where the lights are delivered to children in developing countries."

With this approximately one-hour energizer, companies have the opportunity to contribute to eliminating energy poverty. "We are proud that SolarBuddy has chosen us as their partner, and we are fully committed to this initiative. If companies are interested in organizing a CSR team-building activity, they can turn to us. Our colleagues from other agencies who want to offer a SolarBuddy team-building experience to their clients are also welcome to join us," concludes Geert Debusschere.
